About the Artist

Hi, I'm Jackie Campbell, and as a nature photographer, I find myself drawn time and again to the captivating allure of water in all its forms and moods. From the serene lull of a calm estuary at dawn to the thunderous roar of crashing waves on the shore, water holds an infinite array of emotions and experiences.

I live aboard my catamaran, sailing the seas and chasing the shifting light and landscapes that inspire my work. My fascination with the ocean is multidirectional. I love being above it, on it, and in it. From above, I’m captivated by the dance of light upon the water’s surface, constantly shifting and transforming the landscape beneath. From below, I’m immersed in a world of fluid beauty, where every ripple and current tells a story of the vast and mysterious depths.

Photography is more than just a medium for me; it is a deeply personal journey that traces back to my father and his passion for capturing moments in time. Together, we would spend hours uninterrupted in his darkroom, talking of all things and watching as images materialised before our eyes like magic, each one a testament to the power of storytelling through light and shadow.

When I set out to capture and edit an image, I’m not merely documenting a scene; I’m striving to encapsulate the essence of that moment – the way it felt, the emotions it evoked – so that it may be shared with others who were not there to witness it firsthand. Through my photographs, I aim to transport viewers to distant shores, inviting them to experience the beauty and wonder of the natural world in all its glory.

Photographing nature is more than just a creative pursuit; it’s a grounding force that reminds me of my place within the vast and interconnected web of life.
